почтового служащего (он же романист и скульптор Говард О"Брайен). Окончила
Государственный университет Сан-Франциско и университет Беркли. Работала официанткой,
поварихой, капельдинером в театре, страховым агентом; ныне - профессиональный
писатель. Первое литературное произведение - роман о двух детишках с Марса, совершивших
самоубийство - написала уже в пятом классе школы. Самое известное произведение
Энн Райс - безусловно, роман "Интервью с вампиром" (во многом, впрочем,
обязанный своей популярностью одноименному фильму). Этот роман стал заглавным
в цикле о вампирах. в котором на сегодня уже насчитывается восемь романов. Энн
Райс пишет как под своим именем (готическую прозу), так и под псевдонимами: псевдонимом
"Энн Рэмплинг" она подписывает "мэйнстримовские" романы, а
псевдонимом "Э. Н. Рокелер" - эротические романы (как выразился один
из критиков, "садомазохистского толка").
